Hi everyone

Following up on my earlier e-mail this morning, here is more about the
Broadband BIP program from ALA's Washington's Office. By the way here
is the link to the SC state office on the Dept. of Agriculture's site
www.rurdev.usda.gov/sc

Subject: [alacro-l] Dept of Agriculture Money Available Now

While working with the Department of Agriculture on making the Broadband
BIP program more accessible to rural libraries, they told us about
Secretary Vilsack's effort to make $100 million available to rural
libraries ASAP.

Here's the basic fact sheet on the Community Facilities libraries
initiative from the Department of Agriculture.

Libraries should contact their state agriculture offices, which have
money available year-round for Community Facilities projects of all
types, including (and now especially) libraries. No waiting for a NOFA,
no trying to line up other funding around various timelines, just go in
and talk with the state agriculture office people who have been tasked
with getting $100 million to rural libraries.

The simplest way to reach the state offices is through their web pages,
which are all www.rurdev.usda.gov/xx <http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/xx> ,
with xx being the two-letter abbreviation for someone's state or
territory. They are also in the blue pages of most phone books.
