Hi everyone, here is an update from Jim Johnson:

Here is a list of actions taken yesterday by the W/M Committee that
affect libraries/education/state employees.

TERI program is closed effective July 1. 2010. People already enrolled will
be allowed to continue.

National Board Certification for teachers. No new enrollees next year.
People already enrolled will be allowed to continue. Once their 10 years
are up, they will not be allowed to extend for an additional 10 years.

Proviso to eliminate Education Oversight Committee was tabled.

Reduce state holidays from 13 days to 8 days. Don't know at this time which
days would be eliminated.

Furloughs for schools will be optional (at the districts discretion).
Administrators must be furloughed two days for every day teachers are
furloughed.

School districts can pay teachers and administrators at a lower salary to
accommodate furloughs.

State Library is authorized to accept donations and use funds for
administration, operation, and programs.
