Distance Learning and Resource Sharing

Albert S. Cook Library

Towson University

The Albert S. Cook Library seeks an innovative,
energetic librarian to lead the development of library resources, services
and instruction for the University’s distance learning community; and
to manage resource sharing functions, including interlibrary loan, document
delivery, and other appropriate modes of access and delivery.   As
the coordinator of library support for distance learning, this librarian
develops and maintains the library’s online presence and resources for
distance learners.  This librarian will also manage all aspects of
resource sharing and services, including supervising staff.



This is a 12-month library faculty position
on the permanent status track.  Librarians are expected to progress
successfully along the promotion and permanent status track and participate
fully as members of the library faculty.  Appointment will be made
at the rank of Librarian I or II, depending on qualifications.  Salary
ranges are competitive; this position is contingent on the availability
of funds at the time of the hire.



Required:  MLS or equivalent
from an ALA-accredited institution.  Minimum 2 years post-MLS professional
library experience.  Supervisory, distance education and/or  interlibrary
loan experience desirable.  Proficiency in web authoring tools and
ability to develop and implement web-based library services.   Knowledge
and understanding of resource sharing programs.  Excellent written
and oral communication skills; strong project management skills; and ability
to work independently, as well as collaboratively with faculty, staff,
students and external community.   Must meet requirements for appointment
at the rank of Librarian I or Librarian II, including professional 
activities,
