Being a Midwest-based historical and cultural educational organization, we
did not realize until now how severe the funding crisis is for our
counterparts in South Carolina. Each state's reality varies; we now
understand that your state's is among the most challenging.

For that reason, institutions which can confirm a BUS-eum showing of "Held
on the Homefront: German POWs in the U.S., 1943-46" in short time get the
following discounts:

-- within three days of being told of this offer, 50% off the usual
size-/duration-based fees

-- within 4-7 days, 25%, and

-- within 8-10 days, 10%

While such fee rates will only barely cover our considerable costs, we are
excited to be able to bring top-quality programming to tens of thousands of
South Carolinians. [Given the costs of coming from Minnesota and being
on-the-road so long, we must receive payment within 3 weeks of confirming a
slot, in order to reserve a showing in your town.]

mainbannerTRACES Center for History and Culture is featuring, Held on the
Homefront: German POWs in the U.S., 1943-46, a traveling exhibit touring the
state of Florida through the month of April 2010.

Held on the Homefront: German POWS in the U.S., 1943- 46 is an unusual, rich
story to life through the creation of BUS-eum 3-a 40-foot school bus
converted into a mobile classroom and museum. The exhibit consists of 15
narrative display panels illustrated with photographs and documents, audio
and DVD documentaries, artifacts and more. As of Labor Day weekend 2009 this
exhibit will visit both large and small communities in about 26 states,
along a line running from Minnesota to Texas, then Florida and, by June
2010, Boston.

The following link will provide you with a video clip of BUS-eum 3 on a stop

Although few people know the story today, almost half a million Axis POWs
were held in the U.S. during WWII. Three hundred and eighty thousand of
these POWs were Germans, held in 660 camps in almost every state in the
union. They worked side by side with their American "hosts" and in the
process formed relationships, some lasting for decades. These experiences on
all sides embody ageless and timely themes of war and peace, justice under
arms, and issues regarding human rights, international reconciliation and
future conflict avoidance.
