Hi Everyone,
It's never too early to begin making plans and as you can see from the
email below, ALA is temporarily replacing National Library Legislative
Day in 2010. In its place, Library Advocacy Day will be held in
conjunction with the ALA Annual Conference in Washington on Tuesday,
June 29th Obviously, more details will be forthcoming so stay tuned.
Thanks,
Tom

Subject: [fllan] NLLD Activities for 2010
Importance: High
Dear FLLAN members,
For one year only, Library Advocacy Day will replace National Library
Legislative Day (NLLD). The date has been changed to June 29, 2010, and
library advocates from all 50 states will meet at Upper Senate Park on
the U.S. Capitol grounds. The event, which will begin at 11:00 a.m.,
will feature guest speakers, photo ops, and a chance to cheer on
libraries! After the rally, participants will meet with their elected
officials and their staffs.
To make this event a success, we will need NLLD coordinators' and
FLLAN's help. As with NLLD, we'll still need NLLD coordinators'
assistance to coordinate their state's activity and to set up meetings
in Congressional offices. The states with the most people will be
featured front and center, commitment...which means they are the ones
that will be in the majority of pictures. We also need to need a
renewed to getting more advocates involved. This is an exciting,
one-time opportunity that we hope will help us build wider NLLD
participation in the years to come.
More details will be on their way in the next month, so please stay
tuned!
Best,
Kristin
