The College and University Section’s membership declined by around 50 members and the treasury decreased by approximately $807.00.

The College and University Section officers worked hard this year to provide two excellent professional development opportunities to South Carolina college and university librarians. The June workshop, entitled “Librarian-Faculty Collaboration: Practically (or barely?) Speaking,” brought together over forty librarians from across South Carolina. Librarians from a variety of institutions including technical colleges, four year colleges, and universities participated in the workshop.

The College and University Section sponsored a conference presentation by Rebecca Gettys, Reference Librarian, USC Columbia, and Jennifer Campbell-Meier, Associate Professor and Coordinator of Information Literacy & Distance Education, North Georgia College & State University, entitled “LibGuides: Creating ‘Greener Pastures’ in Academic Libraries.” The speakers discussed the implementation of LibGuides at their respective institutions, the various ways they are using these guides, and how LibGuides is helping make their libraries a little greener.

Thanks to all of the College and University Section officers, to Gabrielle Barnes, and to the SCLA executive officers for their support and help in making this a wonderful year.
