Subject: [alacro-l] Numbers that Speak Volumes: Using Data to Make the
Case for Rural Libraries (Monday June 28)

As libraries struggle to meet growing demand with the same or less
funding, the need to effectively communicate the value of libraries in
the Internet Age is more important than ever. In the Annual Conference
program "Numbers that Speak Volumes: Using Data to Make the Case for
Rural Libraries," panelists will share tips, tools and templates for
using data to strengthen your message to funders, elected officials,
board members and the media.

Participants will learn where to find relevant community and library
data and how to use it easily and effectively. Bring your questions,
ideas and obstacles - and leave with concrete next steps that can be
implemented with few staff and limited resources. The session also will
prepare you to participate in Library Advocacy Day (6-29-10) and state
lobby days, as well as write better grant applications, annual reports
and budget presentations.

Speakers include:

* Charlotte Glover, Youth Services Librarian, (AK) Ketchikan
Public Library, and member, ALA Library Advocacy Committee.

* Vivian Wynn, President, Wynn Library Consulting (TN)

* Larra Clark, Project Manager, ALA Office for Research &
Statistics

Don't miss it Monday, June 28, at 1:30 p.m., Renaissance Washington (999
Ninth Street NW) Auditorium!

The program is co-sponsored by the ALA Office for Literacy and Outreach
Services, Association for Rural and Small Libraries, ALA Office for
Library Advocacy and ALA Office for Research & Statistics
