Traveling Smithsonian Exhibit comes to South Carolina

Columbia, S.C. - The Humanities CouncilSC recently announced that 12
small communities in South Carolina will have the opportunity to host
the traveling Smithsonian exhibit New Harmonies: Celebrating American
Roots Music in 2011 and 2012. New Harmonies explores Americans' creative
expression through music - music known by names like blues, country
western, folk ballads, and gospel.

New Harmonies is made possible in South Carolina through Museum on Main
Street, a partnership of the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibit
Services and state humanities councils nationwide. The Humanities
CouncilSC offered an application opportunity to small museums, arts
centers, libraries, and other community venues in South Carolina cities
of 20,000 or less residents to host this exciting exhibit about American
