Subject: Mississippi Libraries - Call for Papers
Mississippi Libraries, the quarterly publication of the Mississippi Library
Association, seeks article submissions for volume 74, 2010.
The themes of the four issues are:
* Technology in Libraries (Spring - articles due Monday, March 8,
2010)
Technology plays a role in nearly every library process and service. How is
your library using technology to improve services, solve problems, or design
more efficient workflows?
* Marketing, Promotion, and Outreach (Summer - articles due Monday,
May 3, 2010)
What has your library done to turn potential library users into actual
library users? What programs or services does your library offer to members
of traditionally underserved populations? How do you measure the success of
such efforts?
* Library Instruction and User Education (Fall - articles due Monday,
August 2, 2010)
Fall is "back to school" time. What sort of instructional programming does
your library offer? Do you have classes on information literacy or computer
literacy? Have you developed a successful online tutorial? Have you written
a guide or pathfinder that you're particularly proud of? We invite you to
share your successes.
* Children's and Young Adult Collections and Services (Winter -
articles due Monday, November 1, 2010)
How does your library serve children up to the age of 12 years or young
adults from 12 to 18 years old? Tell us about your juvenile collection,
graphic novel collection, storytelling programs, homework assistance
service, or summer reading program. We want to know what brings children and
young adults into your library.
Manuscript submissions should be 2000-2500 words, which is about 4-5
single-spaced pages in Microsoft Word. Chicago Manual of Style 15th ed. is
the preferred guide for style and format.
Interested authors are encouraged to contact the editor, Tisha Zelner, for
more complete submission guidelines prior to submitting their work.
Public, school, special, and academic librarians-we want to hear from you.
Library directors and department heads, please encourage the librarians and
staff you supervise to write for Mississippi Libraries. All voices are
welcome!
