[Scla-list] Lottery funds for public libraries

I have just communicated with Jim Johnson regarding lottery funds for public libraries.  While the Ways and Means Subcommittee adopted a proviso providing $1 million from unclaimed prize monies for public libraries, it was pointed out to them that they do not have the ability to do that.  According to Jim, Lottery provisos have to be adopted by the full Ways and Means Committee, which will meet Feb. 16-18 to consider the budget.  As Jim and I communicate, I will send out a message later this week that SCLA members can adapt to encourage Ways and Means Members to include this funding in their budget.
