Electronic Resources Librarian 

Gainesville State College - Gainesville Campus

 

Gainesville State College invites applications for a twelve-month
tenure-track faculty position in the John Harrison Hosch Library
beginning August 3, 2009.

Responsibilities:

*	Perform local systems administration functions required for the
Voyager Library Management System to operate successfully, stay
up-to-date as to developments with library systems and electronic
serials, and recommend new databases and strategies to improve Library
electronic resources.
*	Participate in the general Library instruction program and teach
3-4 credit hours per year.
*	Work at the Information Help Desk approximately 5 hours per
week.
*	Serve as library contact for all databases provided by the
Library and for other library computing needs.
*	Generate database and computer usage reports needed for library
assessment.
*	Publicize and train patrons on how to use electronic resources. 
*	Maintain Library's web pages.
*	Serve as an academic advisor.
*	Maintain an up-to-date spreadsheet of all library computing
charges - current cost, billing due date, contacts. Project costs for
the coming year.
*	Serve as the liaison/selector for Gainesville Math & Computer
Science Division.
*	Participate in the Sunday afternoon work rotation.
*	Serve as backup for reserves, and GIL Express and ILL services.
*	Participate in appropriate professional development activities.

 

Qualifications:

*	American Library Association (ALA)-accredited Master of Library
Information Systems (MLIS)
*	Demonstrated  knowledge of library electronic resources
*	High level of competency with computers
*	Commitment to and enthusiasm for classroom teaching
*	Understanding of and commitment to the implementation of diverse
instructional techniques
*	Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships  
*	Excellent oral and written communication skills
*	Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and
priorities
*	Preferred: successful teaching experience; library work
experience, proficiency with WebCT or other eLearning classroom
management software

 

Salary/Rank:     

*         Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and
experience

*         Anticipated salary range:  $36,000- $41,000
