Colleagues,

I think you will find this new resource of use to you if you receive questions from your users regarding disabilities such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, asthma, autism, Down Syndrome, premature babies, etc.

University of South Carolina School of Medicine Library faculty, Roz Anderson, Assistant Director for Education & Outreach, and Steve Wilson, Coordinator, Center for Disability Resources (CDR) Library, have created the InfoAble Portal (http://uscm.med.sc.edu/infoable/index.htm). The InfoAble Portal was designed to improve access to disability and health information for Family Connection of South Carolina (http://www.familyconnectionsc.org/home/).

The InfoAble Portal combines information from MedlinePlus, Clinical Trials.gov, PubMed, and the CDR Library. There are also virtual tours of the CDR Library collection. In the tour, you can click on certain books and videos that have hotlinks to the online catalog. The Disability Dashboard topics were based on support groups at Family Connection.

You may access the InfoAble Portal via the Center for Disability Resources Library web site (http://uscm.med.sc.edu/CDR/index.htm).

The project has been funded in part with federal funds from the National Library of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Health and Human Services, under contract with the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
