RESPONSIBILITIES:
Troy University Montgomery Campus is currently accepting applications
for the full-time faculty position of Cataloging/Reference Librarian in
the Rosa Parks Library. This is a twelve month, tenure track position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: performing original
and complex copy cataloging and classification of materials in all
formats using OCLC and the SIRSI Unicorn integrated automated system;
performs cataloging database maintenance and authority control work;
serves as Library Liaison to specific subject areas; teaches course
integrated and course related literacy instruction; provides reference
and research services as scheduled; participates in special projects;
develops professionally through workshops, research, committee
assignments, and professional organization participation; and performs
other related duties as assigned by the Library Director and/or Dean of
Library Services. Salary and beginning rank of Instructor are based on
experience and qualifications. Benefits and support services are
competitive and reflect the University's commitment to attract qualified
candidates.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A MLS/ MLIS from an ALA accredited institution is required. Also
required is knowledge of AACR2, LCSH, and LC classification of USMARC
formats, and an understanding of metadata principles and maintenance of
digital collections. Qualified candidates must have good organizational
skills; attention to detail; good oral and written communication skills;
strong computer skills; and the ability to work independently as well as
with others, both inside and outside of the library. The ability to
work non-standard hours, including a weekend rotation and occasional
nights, is required. All candidates must meet employment eligibility
requirements as set forth in the Immigration Reform & Control Act of
1989.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Cataloging experience in an academic library is preferred; however,
recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply. Working knowledge of
OCLC and an integrated local system is highly desirable.
