Hi everyone,
I wanted to alert you all to "one year only" change in National Library
Legislative Day. It will morph into "Library Advocacy Day" to be held
during the ALA 2010 Annual conference in Washington, DC. Read below for
more details.
Tom
PS I'm sure that we will be hearing more from Curtis and the Legislative
Committee as things develop.

Subject: [fllan] NLLD Activities for 2010
Importance: High
Dear FLLAN members,
With a change ahead for 2010, I want ensure that all library advocates
are aware of next year's National Library Legislative Day activities.
For one year only, Library Advocacy Day will replace National Library
Legislative Day (NLLD). On June 28, 2010, library advocates from all 50
states will meet at Upper Senate Park on the U.S. Capitol grounds. The
event, which will begin at 1 p.m., will feature guest speakers, photo
ops, and a chance to cheer on libraries! After the rally, participants
will meet with their elected officials and their staffs.
To make this event a success, we will need NLLD coordinators' and
FLLAN's help. As with NLLD, we'll still need NLLD coordinators'
assistance to coordinate their state's activity and to set up meetings
in Congressional offices. The states with the most people will be
featured front and center, commitment...which means they are the ones
that will be in the majority of pictures. We also need to need a
renewed to getting more advocates involved. This is an exciting,
one-time opportunity that we hope will help us build wider NLLD
participation in the years to come.
More details will be on their way in the next month, so please stay
tuned!
Best,
Kristin
