South Carolina Libraries--Call for Papers

South Carolina Libraries is the official journal of SCLA. Published twice annually (fall and spring), it is an open access journal hosted by the University of South Carolina Scholar Commons.

Authors are invited to submit articles for consideration in the areas of information relevant to SC libraries and librarians, as well as materials in the field of librarianship in general.

SC Legislators Penalize Universities for LGBT Curriculum, ALA & SCLA Respond

The College of Charleston and the University of South Carolina-Upstate have both been penalized by the House budget committee to the tune of $70,000 for including LGBT-themed material in their reading programs. The American Library Association and the South Carolina Library Association have both written letters expressing concern over this issue.

South Carolina Libraries Journal Seeks Book Reviewers

The editorial board of the new South Carolina Libraries journal is planning to publish the inaugural issue next fall. Book Review Editor Elise Wallace is working to gather a pool of volunteers to write book reviews for this bi-annual publication. The books to be reviewed will include those about South Carolina or libraries, authored by a South Carolinian, or published in South Carolina.
