Did you know that we have an important birthday coming up? The South Carolina Library Association was established on October 27, 1915, when fourteen librarians and library supporters met at the University of South Carolina and voted unanimously to form the new group.

We'd like to celebrate our 100th anniversary in style at the 2015 conference and throughout the year with the SCLA Centennial History Project. Our association is so important to South Carolina's library community, and we want to show our appreciation for the past as we look to the future. 2015 seems like a long way off, but we need to start working now to create conference presentations, physical and digital exhibitions of historical images and items, and possibly a print publication.

We hope to collect and digitize photos and memorabilia that SCLA members may have, and we would love to have copies of old conference photos or proceedings, tote bags, or other materials. If you or someone you know would like to be interviewed for an oral history, if you have a treasure trove of SCLA materials, or if you have ideas to share, please contact Amanda Stone (astone@statelibrary.sc.gov), Ed Rock (erock@clemson.edu), or Bill McRee (bmcree@florencelibrary.org).
