2008 Annual Conference Program
The College & University section sponsored a program at this year's SCLA Annual Conference entitled, "LibGuides: Creating “Greener Pastures” in Academic Libraries”. LibGuides is an exciting new software that is transforming the online environment of academic libraries. LibGuides makes it easy for librarians to create online spaces with a 2.0 look and feel, incorporating tabs, widgets, interactive searches, RSS feeds, podcasts, surveys, and user comments. The program featured two speakers, Rebecca Gettys, Reference Librarian, USC Columbia, and Jennifer Campbell-Meier, Associate Professor and Coordinator of Information Literacy & Distance Education, North Georgia College & State University. The speakers discussed the implementation of LibGuides at their respective institutions, the various ways they are using these guides, and how LibGuides is helping make their libraries a little greener. There were about 30 librarians in attendance during the program. A business meeting was held after the presentation and new officers were elected, see below for current list of College & University Section officers. The section officers would like to extend our appreciation to Christie Eller our outgoing chair for all her hard work this past year!!
