College and University Section
It is the purpose of the College and University Section to serve persons interested in all aspects of academic libraries. Its objective is to stimulate and support high standards of library service in colleges and universities. It encourages professional growth through attendance at professional meetings, promotion of communication and exchange of ideas among its members, continuing education opportunities, and dissemination of publications of professional interest to its membership. It represents academic library concerns to other Sections within the SCLA as well as to groups and persons outside the Association.

The Library Instruction Toolkit: Effective Teaching, Active Learning
Date: Tuesday, June 5, 2012
Time: 9:45am - 3:10pm; networking lunch included
Venue: Lucy Hampton Bostick Auditorium, Richland County Public Library - Columbia, SC
The program will assist librarians from all types of libraries in the creation, delivery and marketing of library instruction activities and encourage opportunities for networking with your colleagues from across the state on this important topic.
The keynote session will feature Joshua Vossler, 2012 winner of the ACRL Innovation Award, and author of the book Humor and Information Literacy: Practical Techniques for Library Instruction.
In the afternoon, Dr. Curtis R. Rogers, Communications Director for the South Carolina State Library will help us stock our instruction toolkits with ideas for outreach and marketing in a session called "The Power of Library PR."
The program will finish with a panel entitled, "Effective Teaching, Active Learning." Panelists include Amber Conger, Richland County Public Library; Katherine Stiwinter, Spartanburg Community College; Adam Haigh, Lander University; and Ruth Thompson, South Carolina State Library.
