2006 Annual Report
The Youth Services Section 2006 Board members were: Karen Edgar - Chair, Karen Allen - Vice Chair, Becky James - Secretary, and Ellen Stringer, Past Chair; all having been chosen at the end of SCLA’s 2005 Conference. YSS began the year with $207.55 in its treasury balance (January 31, 2006). The only money withdrawn from this balance will be used to pay
mileage for Alyce Kemp-DeWitt, a speaker at the 2006 SCLA Conference in Hilton Head.
The YSS Board met several times throughout the year for discussion and conference planning. We also maintained communication via email. We attended SCLA Board meetings. During 2006, YSS By-Laws were revised to comply with SCLA By-Laws, and approved at a SCLA Board meeting.
Three 2006 SCLA Conference programs were YSS sponsored with one being co-sponsored with the Public Library Section. Our programs were: “The 3 U’s: Unattended, Unruly, and Unwanted Children in the Library, Manga! Manga!, and The Zero Stress Zone.” A total of 115 people attended these three successful events.
Immediately after our final program on Friday, December 1, we conducted our last YSS meeting for 2006 with several attendees as well as the YSS Board participating in a lively and informative dialogue. At this time the 2007 YSS Board was also chosen. They are: Karen Allen - Chair, Cathy Pruitt - Vice Chair, Becky James - Secretary, and Karen Edgar -
Past Chair.
