2001 Trustee Section Annual Report
The Trustee Section has rebuilt this year both in number and in activities. Chair James Campbell, Vice Chair Rich Panter, Secretary Troy Roberts, represented the state geographically very well. At the March Conference in Myrtle Beach, we discussed with President Glynda Christian how to approach re-energizing this section.
We developed worthwhile ideas to explore, including a parliamentary workshop with Joyce Parks and a fundraising workshop with proven leaders in that field. In discussing these ideas, we decided a late fall workshop on fundraising would be good timing. At the fall conference in Columbia, we distributed flyers of “Fundamentals of Fundraising” workshop to be held at the RCPL on December 1, Saturday, from 9:00 till 12:30. Vice-Chair Rich Panter organized the workshop and speakers were Director of Spartanburg Libraries, Todd Stephens, and B.G. Stephens, fundraiser for Wofford College. There were twenty-five participants in this workshop, including members of the Friends, Staff, and Boards of the State Library, Lexington, Chester, Sumter, Williamsburg, Spartanburg, Beaufort, Union Counties. We plan to use the funds generated through this workshop for a useful Trustee training or meeting in 2002.
Elected Officers for 2002: Rich Panter, Chairperson; Troy Roberts, Vice Chair. We had some suggestions for Secretary but will have to contact them to see if one of them will serve in this capacity.
