2001 Public Library Section Annual Report

The Public Library Section has had a good year. The section now has its membership list, which will help in recruiting officers and soliciting input from the membership. In March at the SCASL/SCLA joint conference in Myrtle Beach, the section co-sponsored the program “Space Planning for Public Libraries” with library consultant Rich Rosenthal.

One goal of the officers of the section is to develop a clear and complete orientation packet for new officers. There has not been a consistent record kept of memberships, by-laws, programs sponsored, annual reports, etc. and it is very difficult for new officers to know their responsibilities without some guidance or history.

At the October conference in Columbia, Marilyn Tsirigotis was elected chair of this section for 2002.
