2002 Annual Report Nominating Committee Report

From the Handbook: Article II. Nominations, Terms, and Elections of Officers
Section 1. The President, with the approval of the Executive Board, shall appoint a Nominating Committee which shall be composed of the Chairs of the Sections, with the immediate Past-President serving as Chair of this committee. Notice of the names placed in nomination will be given to the membership at least thirty (30) days prior to the election.
Section 2. Additional nominations may be accepted from the floor. An expression of willingness to serve must have been obtained from the person nominated and current membership in the Association verified.
Section 3. A majority of those attending the annual General Business Meeting shall constitute elections.
Section 4. Officers, with the exception of the Treasurer, shall serve the calendar year following their election. The Treasurer shall serve a term of two calendar years following election.
(NOTE: The Nominating Committee for 2002 has met via telephone. The following slate of officers is presented to the membership for consideration. The Association will have to vote at the Conference, at which time nominations may be taken from the floor. This slate could be sent to the membership through the listserv at least 45 days in advance to assure communication to the Association.)
Nominees for 2002
Tom is head of Reference Services at the College of Charleston. He has served as Vice-President/President-Elect in 2002 preparing for our joint Conference with the Southeastern Library Association. He has organized the Poster Sessions at many previous Conferences. He has also served previously as head of the very successful ad hoc Scholarship Committee in SCLA and as chair of the Library Administration Section.
1st Vice-President/President-Elect: Marilyn Tsirigotis
Marilyn is the Director of the Harvin Clarendon County Library. She is currently head of the SCLA Public Library Section and has been a leader of the Association of Public Library Administrators in South Carolina. She has also been active in the American Library Association.
2nd Vice-President for Membership: Peg Tyler
Peg is a Reference Librarian at the Thomas Muldrow Cooper Library at Clemson University. She has worked on the SCLA Board previously and has served as a leader of the Piedmont Library Association for many years.
Camille is Coordinator of Library Instruction and an assistant librarian in Reference at USCS. She served for two years as Chair of the Bibliographic Instruction Interest Group of the SCLA Public Services Section. She was 2nd VP of SCLA until she assumed part of the Executive Secretary’s duties July 2001-June 2002.
The Committee has voted unanimously to approve this selection.All candidates have agreed to serve in these offices.
