Welcome to the New Members Round Table

The New Members Round Table provides a place for new members of SCLA to develop professionally and establish relationships with more experienced librarians.

Membership in the NMRT is available to librarians who have worked less than five years in South Carolina. In response to recent growth in employment opportunities for librarians in the state, we wish to recruit new librarians to reflect this change as well as strengthen our organization.

To achieve this purpose, the Round Table sponsors workshops and special events at the SCLA conference. Emphasis is placed on assisting newcomers to the profession and the state in becoming active members of the Association.

Membership is open to librarians who have worked less than five years in the state.

Outstanding New Professional Award Information and Application
The New Members Round Table of SCLA and EBSCO Subscription Service are now seeking nominations for the Outstanding New Professional Award. Each year this award is given to an individual member of the library profession who has made a significant contribution within the first three years of his or her professional library service. Please consider nominating someone in this profession who is exemplary in library service.

The award this year will include $300 and a plaque. South Carolina is fortunate to have so many outstanding library professionals who would qualify and deserve this award.

Please return nomination forms and all other requested information to Pat Vierthaler, NMRT Chair, by September 28, 2007. The award sponsor will need the winner’s name in time to engrave the plaque. Please contact me with any questions you may have at patricia.vierthaler@tridenttech.edu.
