Editorial Committee - Meeting Minutes May 20, 1999

SCLA Editorial Committee Meeting: May 20, 1999, 10:30 a.m., Lexington Main Library, LCPL. Attending: Members Phillip Powell, Martha Stackel, Camille McCutcheon, Mark Mancuso, Glynda Christian and Web Site Designer Paul Lewis. Absences: Betsey Carter was out of town; Norman Belk had last minute conflict develop.

Summary: Discussion of appearance of web site and links was very informative with many thoughtful comments. The 97–98 Handbook updates are on as well as a link to the Continuing Education page of State Library (Curtis Rogers’ bailiwick.) The main heading of “Education” on page appropriately covers all the information that is accessed there.

All members of our Committee should take the responsibility to generate articles: write one, ask someone to write one, encourage ideas for an article or make suggestions to colleagues, associates, other committee members, etc. These articles will be highlighted on the main page.

Group ware calendar with a file-sharing option to those who seek it out is available on the site. The new listserv will not be moderated—at least at first—we can decide otherwise at a later time.

The Editorial Committee is responsible for the content of these pages and therefore must review and sign-off on what is mounted. Need to find simple way to accomplish this, will discuss at July meeting.

No meeting in June will be scheduled. July 15, 10:30, at LML is next meeting time. Any items you would like to see on the agenda should be forwarded to Glynda.
