This was an excellent and busy year for the College and University Section. Not only did we organize a workshop, but we also updated the bylaws and almost had a wonderful speaker for the annual conference. Plus, we increased membership by almost 35 new members.

The May workshop, “Conquering the Tenure Terrors” was a great success with over 40 attendees from all over the state, including one public librarian. What made it possible was the addition to the By Laws of a Programs Coordinator. The By Law addition was approved and voted in at the annual conference. Dr. Larry Hardesty was scheduled as the speaker for the annual conference and was to continue the discussion of tenure for librarians; however, due to personal reasons, he was unable to attend. The Section did meet during the allotted time at the conference and, with the help of a number of people, had an interesting discussion concerning the topic. About 20 people were in attendance.

Thanks go to the officers for all of their hard work, to Gabrielle Barnes for all of her help, and to the executive officers of SCLA for their support this year.
