2003 Annual Conference

The College and University Section sponsored a conference presentation by Shawn Tonner, Library Director of Reinhardt College, entitled Further Thoughts on Creating a Better Place and Making it Matter: Design Trends and Impact in Academic Libraries. Tonner had everyone out of their seats, literally. Once attendees realized that she actually wanted people to gather in small groups to work through a library design worksheet, chairs were moved and some meaningful conversations were started. This was followed by a more traditional PowerPoint chock full of good info, photos, and graphs. Given the amount of library construction and plans for library construction and expansion in SC, this presentation proved to be relevant and timely.

During our annual business meeting we elected a new slate of officers. The new officers immediately fell into a natural conversation and were abuzz with plans and programs for 2005. Drucie Guillon, our ACRL representative, reported on ACRL activity. We also approved new by-laws.

2004 Budget

Thanks to minimal expenditures and a healthy membership, the College and University Section Budget is looking good at $2,850.00 as of October 18, 2004.
