SOUTH CAROLINA LIBRARY ASSOCIATION
BIBLIOGRAPHIC INSTRUCTION INTEREST GROUP
ANNUAL REPORT, DECEMBER 2004
The BI Interest Group officer positions were filled at the 2003 SCLA Annual Conference in Columbia, SC. Jennifer Little (USC Aiken) served as chair, Judith Head (SC State Library) served as vice-chair, and Betty Williams (Lander University) served as secretary. Because the BI-Interest Group had almost not money in the budget, Jennifer applied and successfully received one of SCLA’s new “program planning grants” in the amount of $100 for our speaker’s fee for the annual conference.
The BI-Interest Group sponsored the workshop “The Five Decisions your students and patrons make about you” on Wednesday, October 27 at 1:30 p.m. during SCLA’s Annual Conference in Greenville, SC. Dr. Daryl Wiesman conducted an interactive workshop which helped librarians understand better our patrons and how to work effectively with them. C. Camille Cooper was instrumental in recommending and contacting our speaker for our workshop. Dr. Wiesman drew a large audience with at least 60 in attendance. The feedback received from the audience was excellent, and many hoped he will be invited to speak again.
The budget for the group started the year at $21.00, on September 30, 2004 had $96.00, and as of December 31, 2004 had (−177.52)
The annual business meeting immediately followed the workshop.
New officers elected include:
- Chair: Karen Brown, USC Columbia
- Vice-Chair: Allison Faix, Coastal Carolina University
- Secretary: Betty Williams, Lander University
Respectfully submitted,
Jennifer Little
BI-Interest Group Chair
