2005 Annual Report

The Awards Committee communicated via email and telephone this year. Nominations for the Friends of Libraries, Outstanding Librarian, Lifetime Service and Achievement, and Honorary Lifetime membership were received by mail, fax, and email. They were then scanned and emailed to the voting members for the decisions.
There were quite a few recipients of the Honorary Lifetime Membership this year. Those recipients were: Jim Johnson, Sarah Gable, Mary Bostick, Anne Schneider, Anne Robichaux, Jan Cambre, Mary Bull, Margie Herron, Doris Wright, Dennis Bruce, Norman Belk, Pat Shufeldt, Carolyn Cody-Fuller, and Frankie Cubbedge.
Tom Fletcher was honored for his efforts with the Friends of Libraries Award. Libby Law was recognized as the Outstanding Librarian of the Year. Drucie Gullion and Jim Johnson both received Lifetime Service and Achievement Awards. I’m happy to say that I received the Outstanding New Professional Award.
Elizabeth Sudduth of the University of South Carolina will Chair the Committee next year.
