Awards Committee 2003 Annual Report

The Awards Committee suggested a new award to the Executive Board of SCLA this year, the Lifetime Service and Achievement Award, to recognize sustained service to the Association itself. The Board approved this award, and the criteria and nomination form for this award have been added to the Awards web page under the “Other awards as appropriate” heading.
The Awards Committee received nominations for both Friend of Libraries and Outstanding Librarian in 2003. David Dickerson of Fort Jackson will be honored as Friend of Libraries, and Marguerite D. Keenan, director of the Pickens County Library System, will be honored as Outstanding Librarian at the conference’s Award Brunch. In addition to these awards, the Committee was moved as one to honor Margie E. Herron for her lifetime of service to libraries and librarians in the state of South Carolina. Margie too will be recognized at the Awards Brunch.
