2005–2006 Annual Report
PALMCOP and the Roundtable sponsored a program “The Dangers of Everyday Living: Ballpoint Ink” at Conference. Christine Whitaker, a former analytical chemist, currently the Collection Development librarian at University of South Carolina Medical School Library and Kristi Wright, Conservator at the Holman Conservation Laboratory at the University of South Carolina were the speakers. Their talk was the first detailed presentation relating to the groundbreaking research from the collaborative work of chemists at USC and the conservation lab on the stability of ballpoint inks in use from 1950–1975.
No additional expenses were incurred during the Conference.
The following officers were elected:
Craig Keeney, Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect
Lori Schwartz, Secretary
Greg Wilsbacher, Director of the Newsfilm Library at the University of South Carolina and
Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of the Roundtable will serve as Chair for the 2006–2007 program
year.
